Views of Rio de Janeiro from a hang-glider

I've always wanted to feel like a bird, know what it feels like flying without getting on a plane; so my third visit to Rio de Janeiro, gave me the opportunity to experience the sensation of flying.

The day before, I was determined, I had to do it. But the next day was not so clear: hang gliding? Are you crazy? I panicked. Two seconds later I said, "Come on, do not think about it, when will you have the opportunity to hang glide in one of your favorite cities?" So, without thinking twice, climbed into the car of a huge carioca who asked if we were sure where we were getting into.

We were heading to Sao Conrado neighborhood, near Tijuca National Park and past Ipanema and Le Blon. An unknown place for tourists and really impressive. When we reached the mountain valley
Pedra Bonita, where we had to climb to throw us from above, it gave me vertigo. How high is it?

I went up and shook ever more... I wouldn´t be alone, since you need to have knowledge of hang gliding to throw myself on my own. I went with an experienced person, who had 12 years of practicing hang gliding, that gave me more confidence. Once up, he explained me the moves and all I had to do, because, as I said, takingoff was the most important thing to have in mind for making everything right.

There I was, with my suit glider ready to jump, looking from the top of the mountain...

He clasped his shoulder with mine and said, "Now!". I closed my eyes and ran as fast as I could towards the track made of wooden planks, and when I opened them again, there I was: Flying!
